Education
El Camino College (class of 2011), Associate's degree in Biology Honors University of California of San Diego (class of 2013), Bachelor's of Science degree in Pre-Medical Neuroscience and Physiology
Experience
I have previously tutored: Middle School mathematics and High School science while attending El Camino College, and was very active in group study sessions in both El Camino College and UCSD while attending classes for the last 4+ years. Since I graduated in 2013, I have been tutoring students via universitytutor.com. I have gained a great deal of experience from the students I have had the opportunity of teaching. Most of my students are math and science-based, in middle and high school. As a first generation American and the first of my family to attend college, I feel very passionate about helping others struggling in any subject. I know how it feels to need a helping hand from someone in your community during those times. I have relied very heavily on my professor's office hours, MESA (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement), and group study sessions during my academic career. From my experiences, I have acquired a passion for teaching others to help build the core foundation required for any subject, to ultimately create a quality education for a brighter future. I will not quit until each of my students achieves their goals in understanding the subject or problem where they can then go on to teach others. I am fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, and American Sign Language.

Hobbies
Other than attending classes, and getting a little bit closer to my ultimate goal to become a doctor, I also love to play beach volleyball, rock climb indoors and outdoors, write, dance, or just relax by the ocean. If I am not doing those things, I am most likely volunteering to help the homeless, or finding the nearest American Sign Language club in my area to practice my signing and keep in touch with the Deaf culture, an amazing community I am happy to have learned so much about! This past year, I had devoted a lot of my time to UCSD's Hindi Film Dance team, ZOR, with which I competed around America. It was an amazing experience that I have acquired a great passion for. I am very sociable and outgoing, and love meeting new people. I am mostly very laid back, and equally ready to listen as I am to teach! Call me at (310)-756-8175 or e-mail me at sumayyahmkhan@gmail.com if you'd like to talk further! I look forward to tutoring you!
